Sumo Station Pulteney Street Adelaide

Sumo Station, slightly westernised Japanese cuisine. Excellent setting in a relatively sparse area in terms of eating places on Pulteney St.

This place has been here for years, sometimes its extremely busy, other times it is not.

The prices are moderate to slighly expensive, but the quality is good. They do not have dinner sets like Genki used to have (genki off gouger street, which is no longer there). The absence of dinner sets makes this place more like a Japanese cafe/eatery. There is a full page of sushi/sashimi available on the menu, as well as a sushi train.

There are mains, as well as a banquet for those so inclined for a feast (min of 2 people). I have had the feast previously, at $41 a head, you get a couple of dishes of entree dumplings/sushi, a choice of main and desert. Mains go for around $21- 25.50, so this is a good deal, the desert consists of chocolate fondue and fruit. It is extremely filling.

The service at this place is pretty good, and the setting is modern and fairly sleek.

At this meal, we ordered the sashimi platter for starters. For mains we had the tepanyaki chicken (grilled) and the salt and pepper seafood, with sides of rice.

Both dishes were presented well, especially the seafood lined with strawberries and dashed with orange sauce. The Seafood was laid on a bed of cos and italian lettuce, with diced mandarin. The saltiness of the seafood really went well with the salad.

The sauce that went with the chicke was rich and tasty and you would really need to have it with the white rice to offset the saltiness.

Both dishes were satisfying and tasty and the price was spot on.

The time to table was on the slow side, but in the end it does appear that the extra time did pay dividends to the overall quality of the meal.

In summary, recommended when you feel like paying that extra few dollars for a not-so authentic Japanese experience.

Pizza at Scuzzi

What easier way to begin the blog than to post about than almost everyones fave- Pizza!

Scuzz on Rundle Street are forever busy and on a hot Friday nite it was no different.

The time to table was slightly slow, for the half and half pizza ordered for this meal.
The choice was half prosciutto and half pepperoni/tomatoe and fetta. The base was excellent and the quality of toppings was decent.

Aside from the slow service, I would recommend scuzzi for their pizza.
